Intensive English Program
Build speaking, listening, reading, grammar and writing skills through a practice-based daytime English program in Montgomery County.
Program & Schedule
Classes meet Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM, for 20 instructional hours per week. ILI offers five levels from beginner through advanced. Each level is 16 weeks (320 hours), organized into four 4-week sessions.
The curriculum develops speaking, listening, reading, grammar and writing, with conversation, vocabulary, idioms, American culture and pronunciation integrated into instruction.
Open Enrollment
Official sessions begin every four weeks, and we recommend beginning on an official start date whenever possible. Students may also begin on another Monday after placement.

Placement
New students complete a placement test and writing sample so ILI can determine the appropriate proficiency level.
F-1 Students
ILI Maryland is authorized under federal law to enroll eligible F-1 students in the Intensive English Program and issue Form I-20 to eligible applicants.
Completion Requirements
Successful completion requires a cumulative attendance rate of 80% and a course grade of 75% or higher for all coursework. The minimum age is 14.
